  • $98,510 - $116,332 per annum (prorated), plus up to 17% superannuation

About the position

Based in the Department of Public Health within the School of Psychology and Public Health, the incumbent will join our Digital and Health Information Management discipline cluster as part of the HIM team.  The Department offers HIMAA accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Health Information Management - currently the only accredited Masters degree offered in Australia

This position will require the successful candidate to teach across a range of formats including online and face to face workshops and lectures. Teaching will be in a range of knowledge domains within the practice of Health Information Management with a preference for expertise in health classification or health informatics.

Whilst primarily a teaching focussed role, candidates with a relevant research track record are encouraged to apply as some opportunities may exist for a research allocation to be negotiated.  There is flexibility within the time-fraction of appointment to give practitioners the opportunity to maintain external clinical work alongside the academic position. 

This position will be primarily based at the Bundoora Campus, however the incumbent may be assigned responsibilities that may occasionally require travel to the Melbourne CBD or other La Trobe campuses. 

Skills and Experience Required

To be considered for this position, you will have completed a PhD/post-graduate qualification or   demonstrate equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University/profession as appropriate for the relevant discipline areas in the area of Health Information Management, including a profession-specific Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Health Information Management (or one of its antecedents).  

You will have demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, as well as demonstrated professional practice.  For candidates considering a Teaching & Research appointment, it is expected that they will demonstrate a record of research publications and proven success in obtaining research funding from grants, contracts and/or consultancies.
