About the position
This position sits within the History Program of the Department of Archaeology and History, part of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. The Department’s teaching and research activities are overseen by the Head of Department and also include the Centre for the Study of the Inland. Our researchers are recognised leaders in their fields, receiving awards and grants, publishing influential works, and regularly contributing expert commentary in the media.
Since 1967, the Department has fostered a collegial and supportive environment, with regular staff and postgraduate seminars and a strong, active research culture. With campuses in Mildura, Bendigo, Shepparton and Albury-Wodonga, La Trobe provides an excellent setting for regionally focused and community-engaged research.
The successful applicant will contribute to the Department’s research profile and take part in undergraduate teaching, as well as honours and postgraduate supervision where appropriate.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have
- PhD or equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University/profession as appropriate for the relevant discipline area.
- Demonstrated capacity to coordinate and teach the third-year History subject, HIS3ANA: Anarchists, Terrorists and Freedom Fighters (in Semester 1).
- Demonstrated capacity to teach the second-year History subject, HIS2001: A Violent Century (in Semester 2).
- Demonstrated competence in teaching and curriculum development, including in online environments.
- Evidence of high-quality and/or high-impact research conducted and published or otherwise disseminated, relative to opportunity.
