About the position
La Trobe Rural Health School (LRHS) is Australia’s largest rural health school, with campuses in Bendigo, Mildura, Shepparton and Albury-Wodonga. We offer a wide range of health programs and are committed to improving rural health and wellbeing through outstanding graduates and research.
The Department of Rural Clinical Sciences, based in Bendigo, delivers dentistry and oral health programs supported by a state-of-the-art clinical teaching school at Bendigo Health. Our purpose-built simulation facilities and innovative teaching prepare graduates for the future of dental practice.
A Level B Clinical Practitioner is responsible for delivering high-quality clinical teaching in Dentistry and Oral Health. This includes developing and implementing content, using evidence-based approaches and leveraging education technologies to enhance the student experience. The role supports professional accreditation processes and works closely with the team to prepare future dental practitioners. Teaching and related activities may comprise up to 100% of the workload.
Some of your duties will include:
- Provide clinical education, primarily at undergraduate level, providing a high-quality learning experience that engages students through the conduct of clinical placement.
- Preparation and marking of student assessments, including moderation.
- Initiating and participating in innovative subject level curriculum design (including the embedding of employability capabilities), including taking an evidence-based approach to evaluating how these initiatives improve the student experience.
- Student consultation including the provision of constructive, fair and timely feedback on learning to students.
Skills & Experience
- A Masters or equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University/profession as appropriate for the Dentistry and Oral Health discipline.
- Registered Oral Health Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (Ahpra) with no restrictions or conditions to practice.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching/curriculum development/subject coordination in face-to-face, blended and/or online modes, as evidenced by sustained high results on student feedback on teaching surveys, teaching excellence awards, peer-review of teaching or through other equivalent forms of evidence.
- Recent and relevant contemporary clinical/professional experience as relevant to the Dentistry and Oral Health discipline.
- High-level organisational skills with the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, initiate and follow-up actions, all with minimal or no supervision.
