About the position
The Senior Contracts Officer plays a key role in the Research and Industry Agreements Team by delivering efficient, high-quality client service and contracting support. The position is responsible for managing agreements for a range of research and consulting activities involving external funders and collaborators. It also includes supporting the submission of tenders and quotes.
The position provides expert advice to teams across the La Trobe Research and Industry Engagement portfolio on agreements with industry partners. It also supports researchers and stakeholders across the full lifecycle of research and consulting, from project establishment, milestone monitoring and variations, through to project closure.
The position is diverse and would suit people with a range of experience, including research grant management, business development, or legal/contracting.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have:
- An undergraduate degree in any area relevant to the position with at least 4 years subsequent experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
- Demonstrated experience with contract negotiations, developing and managing research agreements with a range of clients and partners.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the capacity to work collaboratively and cooperatively in small teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to effectively synthesise material and present data and complex information in a range of formats.
- Demonstrated organisation and problem-solving skills, with an ability to manage multiple different projects concurrently.
- Ability to apply theoretical knowledge or management or policy expertise to bring together diverse and sometimes conflicting information to solve problems.
- Demonstrated ability to form a detailed knowledge of academic and administrative policies and the interrelationships between a range of policies and activities.
- Demonstrated high level of self-motivation and personal management skills.
- Experience in facilitating training or seminars, preferably in a research management, business development, or community engagement context.
