La Trobe University is seeking an innovative and industry-connected Associate Professor, Clinical Lead – Pharmacy to join our Rural Health School in Bendigo.

This is a pioneering dual appointment, combining senior academic leadership with a significant clinical role in a partnered community pharmacy. You will spend 60% of your time at La Trobe University and 40% in clinical practice—bridging education and real-world pharmacy to deliver lasting impact.


About the role

This unique position is designed to integrate academia and industry, ensuring that pharmacy education evolves alongside contemporary practice.

You will:

  • Provide academic leadership in teaching, curriculum innovation, and student experience
  • Lead curriculum renewal, aligning programs with emerging pharmacy models and rural health priorities
  • Build strong partnerships with industry, professional bodies, and rural health organisations
  • Mentor and develop academic and clinical teams
  • Drive clinical governance, quality, and innovation within a partnered community pharmacy
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of innovative, patient-centred models of care
  • Strengthen workforce pipelines and future-ready rural pharmacy capability

About you

To be successful, you will bring:

  • A PhD or Masters qualification and recognised standing in pharmacy
  • Demonstrated leadership in teaching excellence and curriculum development
  • Strong understanding of pharmacy accreditation standards and clinical governance frameworks
  • Experience in community pharmacy (retail/commercial) and preferably rural/regional health settings
  • Proven ability to build and sustain industry partnerships
  • Experience mentoring teams and leading across academic and clinical environments
  • A collaborative, innovative mindset with a commitment to culturally safe and inclusive practice
