About the position

The School of Education recently received a philanthropic donation of $762,000 over 3 years from the Helen McPherson Smith Trust Fund, to further examine a professional learning program in vulnerable schools and its impact on student learning. Given that the project will recruit 20 schools and recruit up to 5000 participants, there is a need for a project coordinator to lead the development of project timelines related to this funding, ensuring key deliverables are met.

Reporting to Research Lead, Associate Professor Melissa Barnes, this position will drive the development of project plans and timely outputs. The role will include development and monitoring of budgets, creating and implementing project timelines and working with relevant stakeholders to successfully implement the project. Administrative support will also be required. The position will be fixed term until 31 December 2027.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Responsible for program development and implementation. Provides strategic support and advice to the School requiring integration of a range of university policies and external requirements, and an ability to achieve objectives operating within complex organisation structures.
  • Ensures the project is managed and delivered to specification, time and budget.
  • May utilise and/or manage allocated budget/resources and control all related expenditure to ensure delivery of targets/objectives within budget.
  • Contributes to planning and budgetary statements and delivery of service resources within budgetary constraints.
  • Provide managerial and administrative support to the Research Lead as well as Project Leads
  • Prepare progress reports and budgetary information for reporting purposes

Skills and Experience:

  • A degree with substantial extension of the theories and principles, learned through experience; or a range of management experience; or postgraduate qualifications, or progress towards postgraduate qualifications with extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  • Ability to be responsible for program/system development and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders to achieve stated outcomes.
  • Demonstrated high level of self-motivation and personal management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and controlling budgets/resources/funding and an understanding of financial management procedures.
  • Experience developing innovative solutions and contributing to strategic planning.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including ability to negotiate, motivate, influence and build relationships.
