La Trobe University is seeking a dynamic and experienced fundraising professional to lead our bequest program as Senior Manager, Bequests. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, this is a rare opportunity to design and deliver a planned giving strategy at one of Australia’s most progressive universities.

As the bequest lead in the Alumni and Advancement Office, you’ll drive growth in legacy giving through meaningful relationship management, strategic program development, and thoughtful donor stewardship. You will be recognised as the university’s specialist in this space, delivering long-term impact for students, research, and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of La Trobe’s bequest program
  • Identify and engage prospective bequestors through tailored outreach
  • Provide expert guidance to individuals considering a bequest to La Trobe
  • Create and manage stewardship and recognition strategies for confirmed bequestors
  • Maintain accurate records and report on bequest activity using Raiser’s Edge
  • Represent La Trobe at functions and events, including after-hours engagements

What You'll Bring:

  • A relevant degree with extensive experience in fundraising or relationship management, particularly in bequests or planned giving
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives and donor engagement programs
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with empathy and discretion on sensitive matters
  • Strong experience working with senior stakeholders and influencing internal and external relationships
  • High-level planning, reporting, and data management capabilities
