Nowadays, there is more than one way to get into university, and the Domestic Student Recruitment Team is dedicated to ensuring that prospective students can find the best pathway to help them reach their study goals, whether they be finishing Year 12 or are looking for a complete career change.
Every day in the role looks different, keeping things fresh as we move through the academic year. The Student Recruitment Officer is responsible for supporting prospective students throughout the entire process of starting their university journey, through:
- carrying out one-on-one consultations
- assisting students through the application process of courses and alternative entry schemes
- building relationships with secondary schools and community organisations
- assisting in the planning and delivery of La Trobe ran events and presentations
- representing the university in the wider community by attending external events and major expos
Domestic Student Recruitment is responsible for implementing an acquisition and conversion strategy on behalf of the University in order to achieve its strategic goal of recruiting high quality domestic applicants. Furthermore, the Recruitment and International Operations Division plays a key role in the development of customer growth and stakeholder engagement strategies across all available markets and channels including domestic, regional, international markets and online.
Duties at this level:
- Delivery of student recruitment events on and off campus targeting both the school leaver and non- school leaver segments.
- Support the Domestic Student Recruitment Advisor with the relationship management of key High Schools.
- Represent La Trobe at Career and industry expos.
- Assist with the delivery of TAFE student recruitment activity.
- Conduct potential future student consultations.
- Present information to a range of different audience types, ranging from Year 10-12 secondary school students, TAFE students, Career Advisors/Teachers and internal stakeholders.
- Manage the student ambassador program at the Bendigo campus.
Skills and knowledge:
- An undergraduate degree, or an equivalent combination of relevant training and/or experience with an emphasis on high levels of customer service.
- High level verbal communication skills, including effective public speaking, including the ability to develop and frequently deliver presentations to a range of audiences.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- High level interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise with senior academic staff, secondary school representatives, members of the public and secondary students.
- A current Victorian driver’s license.
