Join La Trobe University’s School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences and collaborate with world-class researchers and our industry partner Quantum Brilliance on a pioneering Australian Research Council Linkage Project. You’ll help develop scalable fabrication strategies for quantum diamond microprocessors that are set to transform the future of quantum technologies.
Working with state-of-the-art laboratory and synchrotron facilities, you’ll conduct innovative experimental research on molecular interactions at diamond surfaces. You will contribute to the development of developing new capabilities for surface modification and characterisation – playing a vital role in the strategic partnership with RMIT and Quantum Brilliance through the newly established Research Hub for Diamond Quantum Materials.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting and publishing high-quality research independently and collaboratively.
- Characterising diamond surfaces using advanced laboratory and synchrotron techniques.
- Developing and operating ultrahigh vacuum surface analysis equipment and nanofabrication techniques.
- Supervising students (for Level B) and engaging with industry partners and collaborators.
- Contributing to funding applications and dissemination of research outcomes.
Skills and experience:
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A PhD or equivalent research experience in a relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in surface science, ultrahigh vacuum techniques, and nanofabrication.
- Evidence of high-quality research outputs and data modelling skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
- For Level B: demonstrated capability to lead specific research activities, supervise junior researchers, and contribute significantly to collaborative research programs.
