  • Work with ACAMI’s Director & Chief Scientist and the research team to engage with industry partners, scope real-world medical/biological problems, and deliver practical AI solutions.
  • Actively seek external research funding from both industry and government sources by developing competitive research funding proposals and building collaborative partnerships.
  • Support the Centre in establishing and building high functioning teams who work towards a shared vision, clear goals and targets and developing a culture of excellence, innovation and collaboration across professional teams in the Centre, La Trobe partners and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop external funding pipelines to support the growth of the Centre’s research programs.
  • Contribute to project management, ensuring project milestones are monitored, and providing regular updates to Director & Chief Scientist.
  • Stay abreast of emerging AI methodologies and technologies, bringing new ideas to the team and assisting in maintaining ACAMI’s innovative edge.

  • A proven track record of research and scholarly achievements in AI/Machine Learning, and ideally with some exposure to applications in medical and/or biotechnology fields.
  • Demonstrated ability in drafting competitive research proposals and contributing to external funding initiatives, through collaboration with senior researchers, industry partners, or government agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to publish in high-quality AI and/or bioinformatics journals and presentations at leading international conferences.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate research findings into real-world outcomes, working collaboratively to align academic outputs with industry or community needs.
