About the position

The LASEM Research Centre is a leading collaborative centre for sport and exercise medicine research.  Our research impacts on policy, clinical practice, activity participation, and health and well-being both here in Australia and internationally.

La Trobe Sport and Exercise Medicine Research Centre strongly advocates sport and exercise medicine, physical activity, health and well-being for all. The Senior Administration Officer is responsible for the effective administrative, operational, and strategic support of the research centre. This role plays a key leadership function in ensuring the smooth running of the centre’s activities, enabling researchers to focus on delivering high-quality research outcomes.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • Degree with subsequent relevant experience to consolidate the theories and principles learned, or extensive experience, leading to either the development of specialist expertise or to the development of broad knowledge in an administrative field.
  • Ability to support budget development and monitor workflows to ensure compliance with internal and external procedures and policies.
  • Demonstrated skills in research, evaluation or interpretation of data and high-level proficiency in computer software packages.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially the capacity to work collaboratively and cooperatively in teams, and ability to manage multiple stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

  • A separate document (Max 2 pages) addressing the following 8 bullet points:
  • Providing high level executive administrative services to the Centre Director and Centre Chief Investigators and staff.
  • Administering the Centre budget with oversight from the Centre Director and Executive team.
  • Providing executive support on Financial and HR reporting for the centre including staff contracts, workforce planning, and financial planning.
  • Providing executive support to all Centre meetings: Executive Committee; Management Committee; Research Partners Advisory Group, including proactive identification and follow-up of meeting actions.
  • Co-ordinate compilation of annual reports in conjunction with Centre
  • Develop and maintain both the internal and external intranet, website pages and social media.
  • Develop office procedures and systems to enhance operational efficiency. This includes ensuring appropriate records are managed, monitored and maintained.
  • Project coordination of key profile events on behalf of the Centre, including but not limited to venue bookings, travel, accommodation, catering, and attendance lists, managing attendance bookings.
