About the position

This role focuses on improving the accessibility of content in the University’s Learning Management System (LMS), directly influencing the accessibility of student-facing content across the University.

Key responsibilities involve leading the implementation and organisational uptake of a new Learning Management System (LMS) accessibility assessment tool, supporting academics to identify and resolve accessibility issues, and serving as an escalation contact for technical or specialist queries. The role also requires developing solutions and procedures, contributing expert advice to policy development, and preparing reports on accessibility progress at various levels within the University.

Skills and experience

The ideal candidate will be highly organised, capable of working independently and within a team, and proficient in a range of computer software applications. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are required, with a strong customer service orientation and a focus on solutions. Analytical and problem-solving abilities are also crucial.

A comprehensive understanding of WCAG standards for digital learning environments is necessary, along with experience working with academic staff to enhance their practice. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems such as Moodle, a solid grasp of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles, and experience working in an Education Design environment are important assets for this position.
