About the position
The loans desk requires someone with a technical background and passion for AV media technology to facilitate the loaning of audio, camera (still and video), lighting and console based mixing equipment. Working within the Facilities and Technical Services team (FTS), this role directly supports teaching and research activities. This position provides a broad range of technical, administrative and facilities support services to assist staff and students to achieve teaching, learning and research outcomes.
Specifically, this role is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Loans platform which operates within a network of other loans platforms and uses a custom software booking system (LaBSS) that allows remote user bookings and access.
This role uses LaBSS while managing loans transactions which includes:
- Physical loaning and returning of equipment to users.
- Inspection and maintenance of equipment including pre and post operational checks to ensure that the equipment is fit for purpose and safe to use
- Preparation and maintenance of operating instructions, risk assessments, user guides and links to online training while also updating and maintaining the LaBSS database.
- Providing a safety briefing for borrowers of the equipment at the time of collection.
- Provide technical support in media studios as required.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have
- Completion of a degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Demonstrated depth or breadth of expertise developed through extensive relevant experience and application to the operation and maintenance (simple) of audio and video technologies as applied to live and recorded digital outputs.
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety regulations and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities and monitor workflows within own area of responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience in operating and maintaining a wide range of AV technologies, including projectors, microphones, speakers, video conferencing platforms, audio mixers, and video switchers.
