 About the position

The university has embarked on the implementation of a robust, scalable, metadata-driven data governance framework which prioritises high value, high-risk data assets.  This will ensure that secure, trusted, and high-quality data assets are accessible and governed in alignment with enterprise priorities—enabling innovation, compliance, operational excellence, and strategic decision-making.

The role contributes to metadata and reference data standards, metadata quality, completeness and maintenance processes, and data documentation that supports trusted, governed, and reusable enterprise data assets. The position works closely with data stewards, custodians, business analysts, platform teams, and analytics professionals to resolve metadata and reference data gaps and inconsistencies, define and document business definitions and rules, build shared understanding of data meaning, lineage and usage, and support ongoing metadata reference data and stewardship.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain and enhance enterprise metadata repositories, glossary entries, lineage documentation and data dictionaries for governed datasets.
  • Apply Metadata Management practices to ensure consistent meaning, semantic clarity, definitional accuracy, domain stewardship and lifecycle documentation.

  • Apply naming conventions, standard terminology, domain rules and semantic consistency across academic and administrative portfolios.
