About the position

The School of Education at La Trobe University is seeking a Media and Communications Officer (Nexus). Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, Content Creation and External Engagement, this role is responsible for promoting, marketing, and enhancing the profile of the School’s Nexus program, as well as other flagship programs more broadly across the School of Education.

The Media and Communications Officer (Nexus) will build the School’s communications capability to advance the strategic priorities and KPIs outlined in the School of Education’s Statement of Strategic Intent. The position provides hands-on support across content planning, storytelling and delivering – driving growth in enrolments and revenue through strengthened marketing and reputation. 

 

Skills and Experience

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • An undergraduate degree in fields such as communications, professional writing and editing of a related discipline, with subsequent relevant experience in those areas, or extensive experience, or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience. 
  • Strong writing, editing and proofing skills for diverse audiences and formats, with an understanding of brand, tone of voice and accessibility needs..
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint) and exposure to creative/digital platforms such as Adobe Creative Suite or Squiz.
  • Understanding of target audiences, with an effective writing style and ability to deliver high-impact messaging to key audiences.
  • Proven ability to effectively plan, organise and adapt to meet multiple deadlines and priorities.
