About the position
The Manager, Safer Community and Student Conduct is based in the Integrity Office within the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience and Employability) division.
Reporting to the Deputy Director, Integrity Office, you will be responsible for the investigation and management of student conduct and general misconduct matters across the University. You will ensure investigations are conducted in a timely, consistent, procedurally fair and professional manner aligned with University policies and relevant legislation.
The role includes regular analysis and reporting on investigation data, trends, and outcomes to inform policy development and continuous improvement. You will also contribute to project work within the Integrity Office and collaborate with key stakeholders across the University to deliver a high standard of service to students and staff.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have:
- A degree with substantial extension of theories and principles learned through experience; or a range of management experience; or postgraduate qualifications (or progress towards) with extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, training, and/or experience.
- Ability to apply theoretical knowledge or management or policy expertise to bring together diverse and sometimes conflicting information to solve new or one-off problems.
- Experience in program/system development and implementation.
- Ability to develop innovative methodologies or take a leading role in applying proven techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders to achieve stated outcomes.
- High level of self-motivation and personal management skills.
- Ability to form detailed knowledge of academic and administrative policies and interrelationships.
- Experience working with and influencing senior management.
- Experience developing innovative solutions and contributing to strategic planning.
Specific skills required:
- Training and/or experience in conducting investigations, including advanced interviewing, analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making.
- Experience dealing effectively and empathically with a diverse student population.
- Advanced verbal, written, and computer skills, including report writing and file noting.
- Experience in behavioural risk assessment and developing recommendations to mitigate risk.
- Knowledge of policy, reporting, and legislative requirements in a university setting related to student behaviours.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including negotiation, motivation, influence, relationship-building, and collaboration.
